Sunflower Spirit
My Story
Artist Linsey Macrae, supported by the pupils of Duncan Forbes Primary After School Club.
Sponsored by G Morrison Building Ltd
Location Whin Park, Inverness
The idea for the artwork was inspired by the incredible work the Highland Hospice do throughout the highlands.
The heart will have two designs one on either side connected by a border of checked tartan inspired by the Highland Hospice colours. This check will then have sunflowers blooming through the tartan. The design will be created on a base of mottled sky blue .
One side of the heart will have cascading hearts in hospice colours identifying many of the services, events and support the Hospice provide to the area. In the top left quarter of this side will feature the Highland Hospice logo.
The opposite side will feature a large sunflower in the centre with a border of sunflowers around it. This represents the Highland Hospice branding and the emblem of sunflowers that is so often associated with them.
The children in Duncan Forbes After School Club will be adding their own unique touches in the form of bumblebees, ladybirds butterflies, sunflowers and hearts to the overall design. My aim in including the children is to not only inspire their creativity and provide them with a sense of ownership and pride in the heart. But to also highlight to them what a vital service the hospice provides within our community. Building the next generation of Highland Hospice supporters.
I look forward to the children seeking out the heArt and sharing their pride with their families and wider school community.
For every £5 donated to this HeArt you will recieve an entry to win a this fantastic package.
