My design for the Highland Heart Trail celebrates the iconic beauty of Loch Ness, a classic Highland destination. Each side of the heart sculpture features a view of the loch—one from Dores, the other from Fort Augustus—capturing its serene charm. On the Fort Augustus side, a vibrant sunflower, the charity’s emblem, takes center stage, symbolizing hope and growth. The cool blue tones of the loch will contrast with the bright yellow of the sunflower, creating a striking and meaningful design that honours both the Highlands’ natural splendour and the charity’s mission.
I am a passionate artist who has been painting since I was a little girl, inspired by the beauty of the Scottish Highlands, where I was born and raised. My
work often reflects the natural landscapes and iconic landmarks of this stunning region, blending vibrant colours with meaningful imagery. One of my recent projects involved designing artwork for a water bottle company, where I brought elements of the Highlands to life on a functional, everyday product. This competition holds deeply personal significance for me, as the Highland Hospice provided incredible care for my granny at the end of her life after she was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Their kindness and dedication ensured she was comfortable and supported during her final days, and their
impact on my family is something I will always cherish. Creating art is not only my passion but also my way of expressing gratitude and telling stories that matter. I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to the Highland Heart Trail by designing a sculpture that celebrates the Highlands while honoring the work of the Highland Hospice. It would be a privilege to combine my artistic skills with a cause so close to my heart.
